The year 2007 will forse ricordato come l’anno del secondo album di band inglesi che avevano sfondato all’esordio. Dopo Bloc Party, Artic Monkeys e Kaiser Chiefs ecco i Maximo Park con Our Earthly Pleasure . Dal primo ascolto sembra che la band di Newcasle confermi a pieno le caratteristiche del primo successo: un british rock-pop malinconico ma veloce e immediato, distinto dall’elettronica e dalle tastiere. L’album si apre con la spontanea Girls who play guitar per proseguire con Our velocity , primo singolo “coraggioso” con frequenti cambi di ritmo. Books from boxes è tra i pezzi migliori che apre però una fase “contemplativa” dell’album: Russian literature , Karaoke Plays Your Urge and they sound dull and winter, maybe a little 'depressing. The only unshockable , the more rock track, the excellent By the monument and A fortnight's time sound from the 80 break this trend that has dragged on until the end where it shows very well and Sandblasted SET FREE. The Maximo Park have the merit of trying to keep up the quality of their music without upsetting for groped to please everyone. Although their style is seemingly no changes Our Earthly Pleasure work is more complex than the previous one: the songs are difficult to remember and miss the repetitive choruses and danceable reasons we heard A Certain Trigger. With their looks and intellectual indie six led by the charismatic Paul Smith are now seriously and Our Earthly Pleasure confirmed a band "adult" that probably will not be considered only a meteor.
